San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2008 -- According to MyNewPlace.com, the web's fastest growing apartment search site, Tampa and Denver have the highest percentage of renters looking for pet friendly apartments (http://www.mynewplace.com/ep/pet-friendly-apartments). An internal study of search traffic revealed that the two cities had approximately ten percent more searches for pet-friendly apartment than did the average city with more than 50,000 quarterly searches on MyNewPlace.
Nationally, the average percentage of renters who search for pet friendly apartments for rent, according to MyNewPlace internal search data, is around 25 percent. This includes renters who searched for cat friendly apartments, dog friendly apartments and apartments for rent that allow both. While 1 in 4 renters in the nation's largest cities search for apartments that will accommodate their pets, the percentage of renters looking for pet friendly apartments in Denver and Tampa are 36 and 34 percent, respectively.
The supply of pet friendly apartments in these cities reflects the higher demand; both cities have an above average percentage of apartments that allow both cats and dogs. Of the apartments for rent on MyNewPlace, 66 percent of Tampa apartments (http://www.mynewplace.com/city/tampa-apartments-for-rent-florida) allow cats and 54 percent allow dogs. Renters looking for pet friendly Denver apartments (http://www.mynewplace.com/city/denver-apartments-for-rent-colorado) will find that 74 percent allow cats and 62 percent allow dogs.
By our numbers, Denver is the most pet oriented of large U.S. cities, having 36 percent of renters searching for pet friendly apartments and the highest percentage of apartments that allow pets.
Supporting MyNewPlace's findings from online apartment search traffic for Denver is a recent article from Forbes.com, which recently rated Denver the tenth most pet friendly city in the U.S. That study considered factors such as public park acreage, the number of pet-oriented businesses and the amount and cost of veterinary facilities to compile their list of pet friendly cities.
With its high percentage of pet-friendly apartments for rent, parks and pet oriented services and businesses, it looks as though Denver is a pretty nice place to live if you are a pet. Humans like it, too.
