The zoo is the perfect place to spend the entire day. Full of fun, excitement, and exotic animals, zoos offer a wonderful time. The Bronx Zoo is no exception, as it is one of the best zoos in the New York area. The sight of exotic animals and insects, the wondrous smells of nearby vendors showcasing their edible delights, and the intoxicating attractions which the zoo presents to visitors is all part of an overwhelmingly magnificent experience.
As you venture into the Bronx Zoo, you are greeted with very helpful navigation signs that guide you to any part of the zoo you wish to visit. Beautifully arranged foliage decorate the entire area making for a tranquil, yet inviting domain. Walking along the paved path that leads to your destinations, you travel to each area dedicated to a certain group of animals. Areas set aside for Tigers, jungle animals, African animals, and even Madagascarian animals make for a truly spectacular experience.
Walking into each exhibit makes you feel as if you are actually in the lands from which these animals originate. The Tiger exhibit is set in a mountainous theme with large windows for easy viewing, along with educational attractions set up throughout the exhibit such as: an authentic poacher’s truck that visitors can explore, and various stations that allow you to immerse yourself in the tiger culture.
The jungle exhibit is set in a dark, dreary and damp atmosphere. You walk from room to room viewing different animals and insects. Each room contains a different experience, though similar in theme.
The Congo Gorilla Forest is a large exhibit and has a separate admission fee, but regardless of the additional price, it is worth the money. Perhaps the largest viewing area out of all of the exhibits, the very first room of the exhibit features a panoramic window chamber that showcases the lives and habits of the Gorilla species. Authoritative, stoic, and strikingly massive, the Gorillas walk about the grassy plains of their home. Each room authentically matches the actual environments of wild Gorillas, and this added touch allows all who enter to appreciate the Gorilla culture.
The Madagascar exhibit is a dry and spacious area that the various animals love. Lemurs, mongoose, hissing cockroaches, and even corpulent crocodiles fill the rooms of this exhibit.
The African Plains exhibit features a sandy, dry, and quite expansive area filled with the most interesting of animals: lions, zebras, wild dogs, and especially giraffes. You are sure to be amazed by the very sight of these fantastic creatures.
If you plan on visiting the Bronx Zoo, just be sure that you are prepared for an adventure that will be remembered for a lifetime.
