Labor Day weekend is always a good time at the Central Park Zoo. Throughout the day, there are penguin presentations in which you can watch as the chinstraps and gentoos feast on their snacks. On this special weekend, you will be able to view the Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard Exhibit, and meet the zoo’s three newest guests, Chocolate, Zoe, and Bo. This exhibit is a recreation of the snow leopards’ original home in Central Asia.
Halloween is one of the major holidays celebrated at the Central Park Zoo. On October 30st and 31st, be prepared to be spooked, as you will encounter creepy animals such as snakes, bats, spiders, and lizards upon entering the zoo. You will also get to watch as the animals devour their delectable treats as well as participate in games throughout the day. There are plenty of activities for children such as face painting, scavenger hunts, Halloween crafts, and a costume contest next to the sea lion pool! In addition, there will be a performance by the Wildlife Theater players to further celebrate the holiday.
The Central Park Zoo will also have you feeling jolly throughout the month of December in celebration of Christmas. Each weekend during the month of December, the zoo holds a special feeding in which visitors can watch as the animals are fed special, enriching treats such as fruit, peanut butter, and Fishsicles.
