Central Park Zoo Hidden Secrets

by Nina Bhagat

If you are ever in the New York City area, it is imperative that you visit the Central Park Zoo. It is among the best of zoos for a number of reasons. To start, it is organized, clean and well-arranged. There are primarily three zones that the zoo is divided into: tropical, temperate, and polar. Each zone hosts different types of animals depending on the climate in which they live. Another reason this zoo is exceptional is because the original homes of the animals have been recreated. The reconstruction of their homes generates a more natural setting in the zoo, and it also makes the animals feel more comfortable.

The Central Park Zoo also harbors a variety of animals, many of which are rare and endangered. The snow leopards, a currently endangered species, are the newest additions to the zoo. Other exhibits include monkeys, penguins, polar bears, sea lions, a large assortment of birds, lizards, pandas, and many more. These animals are fully energized and excited to see their visitors throughout the day. The sea lions are invigorating to watch as they dive into the pool from the rocks and swim around at extraordinary speeds. It is also fun to watch the polar bears in their daily routines. Even when they are in the pool, you can view their underwater antics through the glass window. In addition, the vibrant rainforest and colorful collection of birds flying overhead make this zoo all the more remarkable.

Another aspect that makes this zoo exceptional is the number of experts in each area who inform you of the exhibits and answer any questions that you may have. They also go to great lengths to discuss the importance of conserving wild life, since many of the animals in the zoo have become endangered. After spending some time at the Central Park Zoo, you will have obtained a great deal of knowledge.

All in all, if you are looking for a way to spend an afternoon, the Central Park Zoo is the way to go. The admission fee is inexpensive and completely worth every penny. It is a great way to spend time with your family or friends, and it is also a very educational experience. If you are looking to avoid the large crowds and lines, it would be best to come during the morning hours on a weekday. However, holidays are usually the most eventful at the zoo. Halloween and Christmas are usually the major holidays celebrated at the Central Park Zoo. If you would like to watch the feedings, there are specific times that you should come depending on the animal. For instance, the sea lion feeding takes place each day at 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. There are also certain times throughout the day that the staff discusses the exhibits. This information is posted on the signs in front of the exhibits.
